People who have undergone LASIK surgery are advised complete rest for a few days and are to refrain from all forms of strenuous exercises. LASIK surgery patients are also advised not to rub their eyes even if minor irritations occur
Long Term Effects and Precautions:
Most people achieve 20/ 20 vision immediately after the LASIK surgery, though in some persons, the improvement takes place gradually. Some may achieve only 20/ 40 which are also considered adequate. Some patients may still need glasses or contact lenses, though their prescription level typically will be much lower than before. Presbyopia patients who have undergone LASIK surgery may still need to wear glasses or contact lenses, even after the surgery. Some patients also experience night glare while driving. Patients should contact the surgeon if one is afflicted by the “regression “syndrome, a gradual worsening of vision after initial improvement.
In very rare cases, patients after undergoing surgery may initially experience improvement, but may have a condition called “regression” – a gradual worsening of vision. Contact your surgeon immediately – an enhancement or a “tough-up” surgery may be needed.
