The IntraLase® laser is a preparatory treatment procedure in LASIK surgery, whereby, a special laser is used to create the flap in the eye, instead of the usual metal blade used. Once the flap is created using the laser, the excimer laser is used as usual on the inner cornea, to correct the vision. The intraLase treatment procedure is a “bladeless” and an “all laser” LASIK preparatory treatment method

Procedure
IntraLase Method involves the creation of the corneal flap, by means of tiny, rapid pulses of laser light. Each pulse of light passes through the top layers of the cornea, forming a microscopic bubble at a specific depth and position within the eye. The doctor then creates the corneal flap, by gently separating the tissue where these bubbles have formed. Finally, the doctor folds back the corneal flap, so that he can perform the second step of the LASIK treatment.

Benefits
The creation of the corneal flap takes only about 15-30 seconds per eye, and the entire LASIK surgery takes a mere 10 minutes. Most patients have reported 20/20 vision and a better night vision. The IntraLase procedure is customized for each individual, and is quicker, safer, more comfortable and painless .The intraLase method has been performed on more than 600.000 patients.
