You may have heard the rumours burbling in the busy current of Canadas eye enthusiast community Can it be true? Can it really? Yes. Yes it can, apparently. Yonge Eglinton Laser Eye and Cosmetic Centre in Toronto is the first centre in Ontario to offer Intacs corneal ring segments for the treatment of keratoconus. In fact, were one of the very few places in Canada offering this service. The others? Brockway, Ogdenville, and North Haberbrook, and by gum it put them on the map!

No. In terms of usefulness and magnificence of design, Intacs corneal ring segments are the exact opposite of the crappiest train ever built, and the new SK modification is better still. This modification is excellent for the treatment of higher-degree keratoconus, something that the corneal specialists at YELC discovered yesterday when we became the first centre in both Canada and the US to implant these plastic wonders into a poor suffering keratoconus patient.

Prior to this, a corneal transplant may have been the only option, so these modified Intacs are an exciting development for all concerned our doctors can pride themselves on being at the absolute forefront of vision enhancement procedures, while our keratoconus patients get to feel like super-cool cyborg ultramen with state-of-the-art thingamajigs melded to their eye, secretly referring to themselves as Robo-Eye Omega or something.

Pretty awesome! *grins with both thumbs up*
