I want to thank YELC for everyone's professional and friendly assistance before, during, and after my laser eye surgery. What attracted me the most about your Centre and what convinced me to choose YELC to take care of my eyes was the genuine sincerity in all staff to assist me during my decision to get laser surgery and during my recovery.

A special thanks to the clerks, who are amazing, friendly and very kind to patients. Especially to Dr. Slomovic as well, who demonstrated what an excellent and caring surgeon he is. In my career as nurse, it's hard to meet doctors who love what they do and who are dedicated to their profession and their patients. Dr. Slomovic is one of those few doctors whom are hard to meet. He who take good care of me through the first seven days of my PRK recovery. I was originally told that I was a good candidate for LASIK. BUT on the day of my surgery Dr. Slomovic informed me that PRK was safest for me. Although I struggled to make a decision and had a rough recovery, Dr. Slomovic helped me through it. I would really like to thank him again.

LASIK Alternative: ICL

"This surgery was a life changing event for me.  Prior to my surgery, I was -13/-14 diopters, meaning I was blind as the proverbial bat.  Uncorrected, I could not distinguish a person from a wall, if they happened to be wearing the same colour as that wall. 24 hrs after my surgery I was seeing better than 20/20 (20/15 to be exact).  Now almost a year later I still have that visual acuity - absolutely astounding and quite literally a miracle!  The freedom from glasses or contacts is so amazing and the vision is just incredible!  It is surprising how quickly you begin to take this new found vision for granted, but each night when I simply turn my head and can see the clock beside my bed, I thank God and Dr. Rootman for my miracle.  Do not hesitate another day - do it now!!!"

LASIK Patients

Firstly, I would like to thank Dr. Singal, the staff and team of Yonge Eglinton Laser Centre for their hospitality, kind service and honesty.

The whole world has been a feast for my eyes since having them done at the end of November. It's never been so much fun to read things from far away, or see the detail on the simplest things. I'll never forget looking at the moon and seeing the etchings with crystal clear vision, or seeing the Air Canada sign on a airplane flying overhead.

I can finally make use of my eye makeup, I can make my way to the bathroom without relying on my glasses, and can doze off worry-free of leaving contacts in/wearing glasses.

Right off the bat, I knew I was placing my eyes in great hands from the doctor's expertise, but I knew Yonge Eglinton Laser Eye Centre was the right centre for ME because of the quality of care they showed me from my very first call for the consultation.

I contemplated having laser eye surgery for several years but was hesitant due to my concerns that complications could arise. As a diligent shopper, I visited several clinics – none of which could compare to the high professionalism or dedication to customer service that I received at Yonge Eglinton Laser Centre. Everyone at the centre from the receptionists, the technicians, the optometrists, and the surgeons had a calming ease that erased all my concerns – I knew I would be in the best hands.

I have worn glasses since I was in grade two.  I’ve worn coke bottle, gold rims, red speckled rims, plastic, half metal, and every other style in glasses over time.  I’ve also worn out contacts so much so that I can’t wear them anymore for more than a few hours before they get dry and itchy and being able to rid myself of that entire burden was like a huge weight lifted off my shoulders. I’m able to buy any sunglasses I choose and not have to worry about paying extra for prescription.  Only people who have had visual impairment know the real problems that come with glasses or contacts.  I highly recommend anyone considering laser eye surgery to visit YELC and see for themselves the difference customer care makes.

My experience with YELC for laser eye surgery was fantastic from the beginning to the end. Dr. Mohammed was great in explaining the procedure to us. Susan was great in terms of explaining the financial aspect and the options available to us. I had the pleasure of dealing with both Philip and Jessica regarding the process and the after-care. They were both very knowledgeable and were able to answer all of my questions. Dr. Rabinovitch was fantastic and made me feel as comfortable as could be through the procedure.

Right from the start, after the first conversation on the phone with YELC I knew that I was dealing with professionals who are experienced with the most important part of my body, my EYES. The staff was courteous and helpful by walking me through the different phases of the process, what it takes to get the surgery done and why things are the way they are.

I was very pleased with the level of detail they went through and how the wide variety of office staff I dealt with before surgery (the front desk, the optometrist, the technicians and the patient counselor “Jessica”) were so caring and pleasant.  And the surgeon called me back to answer few more questions before I made up my mind - that was awesome.

Then we had the discussion about scheduling a date for the surgery – this was a virtually painless process. There is a saying about going the extra mile and that is what I experienced at YELC. The group cares about the results and the outcome of their work as a group is phenomenal. The surgery date was flawless. Dr. Singal and her operating room staff were fantastic walking me through it all one step at a time.

During the return visits it was also nice to see how involved they were about how I was feeling and how I was progressing. It is another level of care that unfortunately, in the world we live in, we don’t see every day and therefore we accept it as normal. That is not the case at YELC, they provide top notch service delivered daily with pleasure.

Anyway, that is my bit on this and I am extremely thankful to have this done at YELC. I am looking forward for the next 15 years at least to be free of glasses and to enjoy life like it is meant to be. It is a clear vision near and far, a vivid view of the natural colors of the world, a very exciting feeling. It is amazing to me because I have worn glasses for the last 17 years and almost don’t remember how well I used to be able to see. Glasses don’t do it justice, YELC can make the difference in your life.

I recently got surgery done on my eyes, and one of the greatest things about it is that when I wake up I can open my eyes and see my alarm clock. I don’t have to squint or anything, it is amazing and I never thought something so small and insignificant thing would cause such an amazing feeling!! Also, I play a lot of sports and am very active so not having to worry about putting in contacts, having them fall out is fantastic!! But maybe the best thing about having my eyes done is that I don’t have to worry when I’m at school about wearing glasses. I’m a high school teacher, and in the morning I teach gym/health and in the afternoon business. I normally wear my glasses because contacts hurt my eyes after sitting in front of a computer for a while, but I was always worried about my glasses being hit/ broken in gym class. So after having my surgery I don’t have to worry about anything. I know that getting my eyes done put a big dent in my budget for a bit but it is by far the best money I’ve spent in my life so far, well worth it already and I’ve only had my eyes done for a week now, and it is amazing to be able to see!!

I am very pleased with the experience that I had at YELC.  I went to another clinic for a consultation and I was not impressed with the service and their lack of attentive nature.  The technician was rude and was not accommodating resulting in a very bad experience for me upon my assessment.  They did not provide me the warm, attentive experience that I had at YELC.  Your staff is professional, experienced and understands the areas where a patient may feel hesitant and scared.  Your reception gives a great presence with the smiley assistants and your staff answered the endless questions that I had.  Even though the same procedure was costing less at the other clinic, I decided to go with YELC.  I felt that the staff there actually cared and really wanted to ensure that each patient receives the best experience.   Even my husband noticed when he was with me at the waiting room that each patient was treated with kindness and that their needs were taken care of.

Dr. Rootman gave me the confidence to have this surgery as he was attentive, calm and he also had worked on 2 of my colleagues which definitely exuded more confidence in this surgery.

Phil was very comedic on the day of my surgery and it was very nice of him to call me 2 days after to see how I was doing.  Dr. Rootman called the night of to see how I was healing and it felt like everyone in YELC cared  how I was recovering and wanted to ensure I was well taken care of.

I want to thank YELC for providing such a great experience through my assessment, consultations and the surgery day. I would recommend all patients to go to YELC as I’m 100% confident that they will always be well taken care of.

My experiences at the Yonge Eglinton Laser Eye Centre have been nothing but fantastic. I was considering laser eye surgery for about two months before I actually went through with the procedure and consulted with all the major laser eye centres in the Toronto area. Most of them seemed to be very good, but I chose Yonge Eglinton Laser Eye Centre because of the friendliness and professionalism of the staff in addition to the extensive experience of the surgeons. They showed from the very moment I walked in, their extreme commitment to patients. The results I've had since the surgery have been extraordinary. I have better than 20/20 vision now and it's an amazing feeling to be able to look anywhere and see the world clearly without glasses. I've probably saved five or six hours looking for my glasses since I've had the procedure and not having to worry about where I can safely put my glasses when I'm not wearing them is priceless. I'll try to never take for granted my new found vision and I thank the Yonge Eglinton Laser Eye Centre for their extreme care of one of my most precious assets; my eyes.

I had surgery with Dr. Rootman 10 years ago and my results were phenomenal. After all these years, Dr. Rootman is still my #1 choice for delivering expert treatment which is why my niece, daughter, two sons and I traveled from Dubai to see him. Not only do I trust Dr. Rootman with my eyes, but I trust him completely with my entire family’s eyes as well. The staff at Yonge Eglinton Laser Eye Centre was knowledgeable and friendly and treated us like we were guests in their home. I had my laser eye surgery on December 11th and as many have said, "I wish I did this sooner!". 

After visiting many other laser eye clinics, I decided to go with YELC because the personal treatment I experienced was above the rest!  Monica answered all my questions and concerns and was even patient with me asking the same questions over and over!  She also helped to arrange my surgery on a day that accommodated me.  All my questions/concerns were answered to my satisfaction which motivated me to book my surgery.

The staff at the Front Desk was so warm and welcoming me to when I arrived for the surgery.  Prior to surgery, it was explained to me what I will be feeling after the surgery and all medications were explained to me so nothing was a surprise.

Dr. Slomovic was very kind to me.  He explained the procedure to me and made me feel comfortable.  The 2 nurses that assisted Dr. Slomovic were so nice too; they made me feel relaxed and that I was in good hands.

To be able to wake in the morning and not having to put glasses on to see to get out of bed is such a nice feeling.  The best result is going out for walks on cold days and coming in to not deal with fogged up glasses!  It's also a nice feeling to not be tired from the strain I was feeling with wearing contact lenses on a daily basis.  There are so many other benefits with doing this surgery and I'm so very, very happy that I finally did it!!!

I want to thank all at YELC for making me feel relieved and happy that I chose their clinic for this delicate but rewarding surgery!  Thank you again Monica for all your help and assistance!

I'd heard about it but I was scared out of my mind. I was hesitant to take a chance but I was really getting tired of caring for contact lenses. Dr. Rootman was training in my boxing gym. One day, we were talking and I discovered he was a Corneal Surgeon who specialized in Laser Vision Correction. After talking to him and going to the Centre for a consultation, I decided to put my trust in him. It was one of the best things I ever did. That was four years ago and my eyesight is still as good as it when I first had it done. I still continue sparring in the gym.
