Improve Your Vision in Twenty Minutes
KAMRA™ Inlay Benefits Toronto
As we age, the quality of our vision declines. In fact, many people become affected by presbyopia, or loss of vision, by the time they enter their 40s and 50s. Fortunately, KAMRA™ Inlay surgery can help patients restore their vision. The KAMRA™ Inlay is an opaque micro-disc that is surgically placed within the cornea to improve vision. Reduced dependency on prescription eyewear is one of the many KAMRA™ Inlay benefits our Toronto patients are experiencing. As leaders in the field of corrective vision, Dr. David S. Rootman and his entire team at Yonge Eglinton Laser Eye + Cosmetic Centre are ready to help you see clearly again.
Benefits of the KAMRA™ Inlay
Anyone who suffers from blurred vision or loss of near vision knows these conditions can be incredibly frustrating. People with vision problems, especially presbyopia, are dependent upon their glasses or contact lenses to make it through the day. Routine tasks such as reading a book, making a phone call, or composing an email require reading “equipment.” The KAMRA™ Inlay procedure can dramatically reduce, and possibly eliminate, one’s dependency on wearing glasses or contacts. Imagine waking up, making a cup of coffee, and reading the newspaper, all without using any type of prescription eyewear. These freedoms can be made possible with the KAMRA™ Inlay procedure.
What Is the KAMRA™ Inlay?
Yonge Eglinton Laser Eye + Cosmetic Centre is amongst the first centers in North America to offer KAMRA vision – an incredible treatment option for eyes over 40. During this state-of-the-art treatment, the surgeon will surgically insert the KAMRA™ Inlay into the patient’s cornea. The actual inlay is smaller than a contact lens and weighs less than a grain of salt. KAMRA™ Inlays are also opaque, so they can’t be seen by those around you once they have been inserted. After the inlay has been placed in the eye, any unfocused light will be blocked from entering. This means that only focused light will enter the retina, making vision much clearer and better focused. Despite the advanced technology involved in this surgery, the entire KAMRA™ Inlay process takes only 15 to 20 minutes. Before surgery is performed, the YELC team will first determine whether the patient is a candidate for KAMRA™ Inlays. The team of optometrists and surgeons will be happy to answer any questions, and will make certain that each patient has realistic expectations before undergoing this procedure.
For patients also suffering from myopia, hyperopia, or astigmatism, placement of KAMRA™ Inlays can be performed in conjunction with LASIK eye surgery. The combination of these two surgeries can help patients with nearly all types of eye conditions vastly improve their vision.
