Laser Refractive Surgeon, Corneal Surgeon, Yonge Eglinton Laser + Cosmetic Centre |

 |
After completing her medical and Ophthalmology training at the University of Toronto, Dr. Singal was selected to do a further year concentrating only on Cornea and Refractive surgery at U of T. This has prepared her well for her association with the corneal surgeons at the Yonge Eglinton Laser and Cosmetic Center. She often says that “the eye has a number of interesting components; however I have been attracted to the cornea as it is here that surgeons have the greatest impact on improving, maintaining and restoring eyesight”. This made her gravitation toward LASIK and refractive surgery a natural move. A gifted surgeon and having worked with Drs. Rootman and Slomovic for several years, she was a natural pick for a surgeon at the center.
Dr. Singal has also investigated the visual results of corneal surgery using more sensitive methods of contrast acuity to try and understand the outcomes of patients who have undergone deep lamellar corneal surgery. Her methodology will help lead us to a better understanding of the vision after refractive surgery. She is an enthusiastic teacher and provides teaching sessions to the Ophthalmology resident doctors at the University of Toronto. Her sessions are insightful and fun, enjoyed by all the trainees. She is a gifted speaker and has been invited to speak on the cornea and surgery at local and national meetings.
In addition to enjoying the technical aspects of corneal surgery, Dr. Singal takes great pleasure in helping patients to improve their vision and shares in their pleasure of improved quality of life. Outside of her Ophthalmology practice, Dr. Singal enjoys travelling and hiking with her Urologist husband. She is a warm, generous person who enjoys spending time with her family and friends and is liked and respected by her colleagues. |
