The steps to vision correction surgery
1. Find an optometrist who is familiar with eye surgery care
TLC has affiliations with dedicated optometrists throughout the country who are well-equipped to manage and deliver pre- and post-operative LASIK or IOL care.
2. Receive a complete ocular evaluation
One of the first steps in the process is to schedule an evaluation with a TLC-affiliated optometrist. During the evaluation, your eye doctor will complete a thorough medical history, perform a comprehensive evaluation of your eyes, and will also discuss how health problems may impact the outcome of your vision correction. Your eye doctor will also check your prescription to determine if it’s stable and if you qualify for LASIK eye surgery or another vision correction procedure.
3. Understand your expectations
Defining your expectations is a critical early step in preparing for eye surgery. Significant improvements in distance vision are possible in most patients, but certain patients may still need or prefer to wear glasses after completing LASIK or IOL surgery. Vision correction doesn’t end your need for eye care. Regular eye health exams, along with assessments of your vision and changing visual needs, should be conducted on a regular basis.
